The Future Looks Bright

April 28, 2020

It’s Tuesday, April 28, 2020, 2:30 in the afternoon and I am sitting on the porch, with a cup of coffee and my love. Thoughts go to the future and the work, fun and adventures that await us. You see, my sweet husband worked his last day at his job of 35 years today. He was sent out the door with a steak dinner and an early day.  Even though this is his last day to work at his job, he won’t retire for 2 months, but will vacation until then.  LOL. I have to laugh as vacation is probably not the way to describe what is in front of either of us.  harli-marten-M9jrKDXOQoU-unsplash

Due to work, and at times not having the urge to do something, we have let somethings get out of hand here. And we have so much to do, so very much to do. To start, this past weekend we laid out 2 raised beds for growing a garden. Both of us were whipped when we were done. Michael stated he was reconsidering retiring, after a shower and a few minutes sitting down I told him I was about to reconsider him retiring also. Now this is all in jest, but we were exhausted and know there is so much of that kind of back breaking work to do.

Even in this time of uncertainty, , quarantines and shortages, to me our future is bright. Even during days of virtual church, work and school, to me our future is bright. Even though we may not have a lot of money, we may not have every worldly thing that we could want, we have a very awesome future ahead. Why? We have each other. After 32 + years of marriage love still runs strong, we still laugh together and work fairly well together. I say fairly because nobody and nothing is perfect.

As we live out these days ahead of us, I am going to chronicle our life together. As I have been praying over the last few weeks about what direction to take my blog in, this is what I have felt the Lord telling me. This blog from the beginning has been geared to the older woman. Now I want to take it a step further and shed some light on what being retired and semi-retired is like (I am semi-retired). Hopefully our antics, adventures, and lives in general will encourage and help you.

Great piece Sis. I know you both will enjoy it. In the last 6 years, I’ve only wished Billy still work twice and that’s been here lately. Y’all are now going to wonder how you ever had time to work. Lol. Love you and best of luck with your blog.
